Siem Reap is a provincial capital but its real significance is that it is the gateway to one of the greatest heritage sites of the world, Angkor Wat.
This thousand year-old shrine, a focal point of the great Khmer Empire, stands as one of man's greatest artistic achievements.
|
Hotel de la Paix is your sanctuary from which to explore this and many other ancient temples by elephant or by bicycle.
The hotel has recently been splendidly renovated having respect for the Khmer style.
Like a grand palace, it is built around a large enclosed garden that features tropical flowers and a swimming pool. The courtyard rooms have their own private gardens. The modern spa offers the ancient therapies known for their soothing, restorative qualities.
Two restaurants offer the best of East and West cuisine, a Pool Bar for light snacks and a Lounge Bar puts on a live show in the evening.
