Charles Hotel, Cambridge
From its multi-million dollar contemporary art collection to the 500-volume library and extensive quilt collection, The Charles Hotel showcases New England's rich, artistic heritage.
Important realist works by New England and American artists -- The collection consists of commissioned art works related to Cambridge and the Charles Square area. A group of Cambridge cityscapes were commissioned for the first floor entrance. On the 2nd and 3rd floors are landscapes of Cambridge, with an emphasis on the Charles river and its natural surroundings. The guest rooms contain original commissioned prints of the Cambridge area, and the restaurant contains vintage turn-of-the-century botanical prints
The Charles Hotel, a truly unique, independent luxury hotel, opened for business in 1984.
Over the past 20 years, The Charles Hotel has welcomed celebrities, scholars, moguls, artists, philanthropists, politicians, opinion-makers and world leaders. From Barbra Streisand to former President Bill Clinton and Senator Hillary Clinton, from Supreme Court Justices to Avril Lavigne to even His Holiness the Dalai Lama, they have all felt at home at The Charles Hotel, an experience the hotel works hard to create for all its guests.
