Alexis Hotel, Seattle
The Alexis Hotel in Seattle, a boutique Kimpton Hotel that is on the National Registry of Historic Places, has presided elegantly in the heart of downtown, near Pike Place Market, since the late 1800s.
Committed to preserving and enhancing the art community of Seattle, the Alexis Hotel is Seattle's only Arts Hotel. From the original artwork throughout the guestrooms and public spaces, the Alexis strives to showcase the diversity and culture that is distinctive to the Pacific Northwest.
Displayed in the hotel lobby and on loan from the Chihuly Studio in Seattle, is Dale Chihuly's spectacular, 12 foot glass chandelier, created as a symbol for the Seniors Making Art Chihuly Lifetime Fund. It is displayed in the hotel lobby.

Winding through the hotel floors is a rotating exhibit of original paintings, prints and sculpture.
The Alexis "Art Walk" features art exhibits by local artists. The exhibit rotates every quarter and features various mediums. In addition to the "Art Walk", the quarterly exhibitions feature works in the Gallery room as well as the Hotel Lobby.
It is rare for a hotel to have a curator to oversee the art program. Barbara Shaiman, artistic and managing director of the Seattle Art Museum's Rental and Sales Gallery, is curator for the Alexis Hotel's art exhibitions.

The hotel's rotating art exhibitions can be found throughout the public spaces and along the "Art Walk," a hallway dedicated to fine art.
Barbara is an independent curator and a successful ceramic artist and has had her work exhibited across the country.
